Hi Amy!
In answer to your questions, I am a poet. It's what I do!
Actually no, I haven't done that for everyone. Just you and the guy I got a message from the day before. I think I'm going to start doing more of it though. Mainly because it's fun. I keep up with a guy who calls himself "Bananaman." He writes a "poem of the day", almost every day. I just thought to myself, "I could do that!" But I don't want to be a copycat. It's an incentive for people to sign my guestbook, and people really get a kick out of a "personal tribute" like that. I do appreciate people giving me a few words when they visit my page. It leaves you in the dark when you see there's been 25 people there in the past day or so, and no one says anything. To design something people are going to like, I need to know how they're reacting to it. Even if it is to say "hey, I was here," I appreciate getting the mail.

The first stanza
You were here, left a nondescript message, and left. Since you didn't comment on any aspect of my page, that leads me to believe that you didn't browse through much of it. ("comes and goes, doesn't stay, leaves her mark behind") You didn't "stay" to chat, but you let me know you were there. The term "dear" expresses my feelings toward those who take the time to write.
"Whatever did she hope to find?" - Surfers are usually looking for something, sometimes frivolous, sometimes profound (half the time they don't even know.) "I hope she found it, insight out (the title of my page), or anywhere (meaning, if you didn't find it here, I hope you do find it somewhere.) or perhaps next time, she visits. (hoping you'll come back and take some time to explore the page, maybe finding it is as "interesting" as the link you followed promised.

Wow, who'd have thought such a silly little thing could be packed with so much meaning! All that from your one line! Like I said, it's fun. You never know when one of those silly little things is going to turn out to be a real "keeper." It's a good exercise for someone who wants to "polish the craft," and perhaps make money off their thoughts one day!

Later,
Janette
